The Giving Assistant blog is designed to help shoppers, gift-givers, donors, and nonprofit organizations find the best deals and help make a difference. Our blog offers all types of gift suggestions, savings tips, and ways to earn money that can easily be donated to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States.  The blog also highlights the many charitable and nonprofit organizations that work hard to make our world a better place.

Our goal is to make charitable shopping easy for shoppers and beneficial for nonprofits through the Giving Assistant platform. Using our free browser extension makes this process seamless and easy.

How To Earn Cash Back

Giving Assistant members are able to earn cash back when purchases are made through a brand that participates in our cash back program. It is fast, easy and free to sign up.

How We Make Money

  1. Giving Assistant partners with over 3,000 major online retailers. Many of these brands pay us a commission to help promote their products and services. Giving Assistant passes on a percentage of this commission to all our members. In short, we get paid, then we share it with our shoppers!
  2. When we promote brands on the Giving Assistant blog, we may use an affiliate tracking link for brands that we partner with. This means we make a small commission on products purchased through links on our blog. There is no additional cost to our shoppers when a purchase is made using an affiliate link. (Tip: any member who uses our browser button can automatically earn cash back and donate!)

Nathan Frontiero

Nathan Frontiero is a journalist, critic, and copywriter. Whether celebrating artists, working with agencies and in-house brand teams, or amplifying the work of charitable organizations, his mission is to tell engaging, accessible stories.

His culture writing has appeared in Take Magazine, Slant Magazine, Bright Wall/Dark Room, Different Leaf, and Movie Fail, where he is a contributing editor. He is a member of the Austin Film Festival and New Hampshire Film Festival selection committees and the documentary film juror for the Online New England Film Festival. In 2019, he won a Silver Creative Award from the Advertising Club of Western Massachusetts and has been the Content & Copywriting Chair of the club’s board of directors since 2020.

Nathan graduated cum laude with an English degree and film studies certificate from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He won the Howard H. Quint Memorial Prize for writing and the Michael S. Roif Award in Film Studies, the university’s highest honor for undergraduate film students. He likes to watch David Lynch movies, read Joan Didion, and play the piano.

Julie Gniadek

Prior to becoming a writer, Julie began her career in publishing as a project manager for Pearson, one of the largest educational publishers in downtown Boston, Massachusetts, working with external sales teams and customers at universities and colleges nationwide to produce over 200 custom projects and titles each year. Within the same month that Julie began her role at Pearson, she also started her own business, Jaguar Media Solutions and Consulting, Inc.

As the world of content marketing evolved, Julie refined and fine-tuned her creative writing skills and began taking on more content writing and copywriting projects and managing complex digital marketing campaigns for startups as well as small- and medium-sized businesses. In May 2017, Julie left Pearson to focus on managing and building her business full-time. Along with a small team, Julie continues to work with clients to this day.

Julie has a bachelor’s in modern languages and a minor in business management from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts, and a master’s degree in project management and two certifications in both Agile and traditional methodologies from Bryant University in North Smithfield, Rhode Island.

In her free time, Julie is a semi-professional aerial gymnast, dancer, and instructor. She also loves running, hiking, reading, riding her three-wheel motorcycle, and her two cats, Nikki and Toto.

Katelyn Greller

Katelyn is a writer specializing in beauty, apparel, and home decor. She graduated from Franklin & Marshall College with a B.A. in philosophy and the University of Baltimore with a certificate in UX design. Since then she’s been writing long and short-form copy for brands you know and love.

Yona Williams

Yona Williams is a freelance writer and researcher with twenty years of online media experience. After earning a BA in English at Colgate University and an MA in journalism from S.I. School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, she dove into an online writing scene when GeoCities and Live Journal were king (and WordPress and Facebook weren’t even a thing), and she hasn’t looked back since.

Yona’s work is virtually everywhere, but you won’t know it right away because she’s also a seasoned ghostwriter who has crafted thousands of features, blog posts, and travel guides for private companies, nonprofits, and individual clients worldwide. Her work has also appeared in online publications and campaigns for USA Today, eHarmony, The Green Connoisseur, The Art Career Project, and GoldenGatePark.com.

Yona currently lives in upstate New York. In her spare time, she enjoys sharing her original artwork with an international art trading card community, embarking on fitness adventures, and spoiling her Chihuahua mix, Rosey.
